Wednesday Walking

These walks are arranged by the Wednesday Walking Group.

These are not Northern Link Walks, but Northern Link members are welcome

Meeting at 10:45am at a pub car park to order lunch at the pub prior to starting the walk at 11:00am. The walk will normally be about 4 to 6 miles. The terrain may be wet and uneven at times so walking boots are recommended. Suitable water proofs and sufficient warm clothing should always be taken.

You participate in these walks entirely at your own risk.

When walking on all roads, please walk single file on the right facing oncoming traffic.
Ensure that person behind you knows when you turn off a road or track.
Do not leave opened gates unattended, close them if the next group of people are not close.
Dogs should be kept under close control at all times and on a lead when near livestock, which includes farm and wild animals.

Wednesday 17th March 2010

The Walk on Wednesday 17th March 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Blue Anchor Bretherton PR24 9AB. NGR SD483205 click for link to map, and coordinates for GPS's.

Directions:-
From M61 J8 take A6 into Chorley and take the A581 towards Croston. At traffic lights turn left onto A49 and right onto A581. Continue straight on just after the Wheatsheaf PH, onto B5249. At next mini roundabout turn right onto B5247 sp Bretherton. Follow for less than 1 mile. The Blue Anchor is on the left

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly.

Lunch will be at The Blue Anchor at about 1:30pm. Please order and pay for food before the walk.

The Walk on Wednesday 24th March 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the WheatSheaf Haugh Fold, Newhay OL16 3RB. Map Ref SD941116 click for link to map, and coordinates for GPS's.

Directions:-
From M62 J21 take for A640, at second roundabout take 2nd exit to Shaw then turn left up Huddersfield Road A640 and after 350 yards turn right into Haugh Lane, this leads to Haugh Fold.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at 1:30 to 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at WheatSheaf Newhay. Please order and pay for food before the walk. Choice of Roast Dinner for £4-99 or from the menu.

Wednesday 31st March 2010

The Walk on Wednesday 31srt March 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Holden Arms, Grane Road, Haslingden BB4 4PD. NGR SD774225 click for link to map, and coordinates for GPS's. The car park is accessed from the B6235.

Directions:-
From M65 J5 take the B6232 towards Haslingden. The Holden Arms is on the junction of the B6235.
From the end of the M66 continue on the A56, taking the left fork on the A56 for Accrington, then taking the A6177/B6232 towards Blackburn. The Holden Arms is about 300yds on the junction of the B6235.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at 1:30 to 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at the Holden Arms, Haslingden. Please order and pay for food before the walk.

The Walk on Wednesday 7th Aril 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Thatch & Thistle Nelson BB9 7TZ. NGR SD856386 click for link to map, and coordinates for GPS's.

Directions:-
From M65 J13 take first exit on roundabout onto A6068, then first left onto Surrey Road and first left into the pub car park.
Please park away from the Pub entrance.

The walk will be 4 to 5 miles commencing at 11:00am promptly.

Lunch will be at Thatch & Thistle Nelson, at 1:30 to 1:45pm. Please order and pay for food before the walk.

Wednesday 14th April 2010

Walk on Wednesday 14th April 2010 will meet at 10:45am in Hurst Green next to Bayley Arms BB7 9QB (roadside parking) NGR SD684382 click for link to map, and coordinates for GPS's.

Directions:-
From M6 J31a (Heading north only)
Take the B6243 to Longridge, bear right at the Old Oak, right at the T junction then left at the Corporation Arms. In Hurst Green take road towards the College for about 250 yards.
From Whalley
Take the B6346 signed Longridge then left at the T junction onto the B6243. In Hurst Green take road towards the College for about 250 yards.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly.

Lunch will be at the Bayley Arms, Hurst Green. Please order lunch prior to the walk commencing.
