These walks are arranged by the Wednesday Walking Group.

These are not Northern Link Walks, but Northern Link members are welcome

Meeting at 10:45am at a pub car park to order lunch at the pub prior to starting the walk at 11:00am. The walk will normally be about 4 to 6 miles. Walking boots are recommended, it may be rough underfoot and may involve wet terrain. Suitable water proofs and sufficient warm clothing should always be taken.

You participate in these walks entirely at your own risk.

When walking on all roads, please walk single file on the right facing oncoming traffic.
Ensure that person behind you knows when you turn off a road or track. 
Do not leave opened gates unattended, close them if the next group of people are not close.
Dogs should be kept under close control at all times and on a lead when near livestock, which includes farm and wild animals.

Wednesday 4th August 2010

The Walk on Wednesday 4th August March 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Holden Arms, Grane Road, Haslingden BB4 4PD. NGR SD774225 click for link to map. Sat Nav coordinates (N53:41:57 W02:20:33).

Directions:-
From M65 J5 take the B6232 towards Haslingden. The Holden Arms is on the junction of the B6235.
The car park is accessed from the B6235.
From the end of the M66 continue on the A56, taking the left fork on the A56 for Accrington, then taking the A6177/B6232 towards Blackburn. The Holden Arms is about 300yds on the junction of the B6235.
The car park is accessed from the B6235.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at 1:30 to 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at the Holden Arms, Haslingden. Please order and pay for the food before the walk.

Wednesday 11th August 2010

The walk on Wednesday 11th August 2010  at 10:30am to 10:45am at Bridge 63, Red Rock Lane, Haigh, WN1 2UW. NGR SD585098 click for link to map, Sat Nav coordinates (N53:35:01 W02:37:37). Car park behind pub, additional parking on Red Rock Lane towards Standish.

Directions:-
From M6 J27 take the A5209 towards Standish. At Traffic lights straight ahead on the B5239 down the hill and right at roundabout, then left at next roundabout into Red Rock Lane. Bridge 63 is on the right just before canal bridge.
From M61 J6 take A6 towards Aspull/Blackrod and left at the lights onto the B5238 to Aspull/Haigh. In Aspull turn right at roundabout onto the B5239. After 2 miles Bridge 63 is on the left just after the canal bridge.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly.

Lunch will be at Bridge 63. Lunch menu here. Food to be ordered prior to commencing the walk.

Wednesday 18th August 2010

The walk on Wednesday 18th August 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Rock Inn Tockholes BB3 0LU. Map Ref SD663233 click for link to map. GPS coordinates (53:42:21 W02:30:43)

Directions:-
From M65 J3 take the A675 towards Bolton (passing through Abbey Village), after about 4 miles turn left to Tockholes, past the visitor centre and the Royal Arms, continue through he village and in about 3 miles the Rock Inn is on the left.
From M65 J4 take the road towards Darwen and turn right at the lights. Take the first left under the motorway bridge to Tockholes. At the cross roads by the pub turn left and over the motorway. The Rock Inn is on the right shortly after entering the village.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at 1:30 to 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at Rock Inn, Tockholes. Food to be ordered prior to commencing the walk.

The walk on Wednesday 25th August 2010 will meet at 10:45am at the Miller & Carter (Wiggin Tree) Parbold Hill, Parbold, Wigan, WN8 7TG. Map Ref SD508107 click for link to map. Sat Nav coordinates (N53:35:27 W02:44:40)

Directions:-
From M6 J27 take the A5209 towards Southport, past Wrightington Hospital on the left, straight through the cross roads then descend and climb to the top of the hill, the Miller & Carter (Wiggin Tree) is on the right.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at 1:30 to 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at the Miller & Carter (Wiggin Tree). Please order and pay for food before the walk.

A walk has been arranged by Harry Kaine followed by a Christmas Meal organised by Anne Layfield at the Calf's Head at Worston, details to follow for the Menu and cost for this meal. It will be a traditional Christmas Meal. Booking details will follow later.
