These walks are arranged by the Wednesday Walking Group.

These are not Northern Link Walks, but Northern Link members are welcome

Meeting at 10:45am at a pub car park to order lunch at the pub prior to starting the walk at 11:00am. The walk will normally be about 4 to 6 miles. Walking boots are recommended, it may be rough underfoot and may involve wet terrain. Suitable water proofs and sufficient warm clothing should always be taken.

You participate in these walks entirely at your own risk.

When walking on all roads, please walk single file on the right facing oncoming traffic.
Ensure that person behind you knows when you turn off a road or track. 
Do not leave opened gates unattended, close them if the next group of people are not close.
Dogs should be kept on a lead and under close control at all times, especially when near livestock,
which includes farm and wild animals.

Wednesday 15th February 2012

The walk this Wednesday will meet at 10:30am at Thornton Arms, Brownside Road, Burnley BB10 3JS. Map Ref SD863324 click for link to map. Sat Nav coordinates (N53:47:16 W2:12:32).

Directions:-
From M65 J9 follow A679 towards Burnley. At traffic lights turn right on A646 signpost Halifax. Go straight across at junction with A682 Manchester road and turn left at junction of A671 signpost Burnley. Follow this road until you come to traffic lights at football ground/cricket ground then turn right on Harry Potts Way. Follow this road up the hill at top bear right on Brunshaw Road then turn left at mini roundabout by the Spar on Brownside Road pub is on the left after about 100 yards. The car park in on Bouldsworth Road which is 2nd left turn on Brownside Road.

The walk will start at 11:00am promptly  and will be 5 miles returning about 1.45pm.

Lunch will be at Thornton Arms. Please order and pay for food before the walk.

Wednesday 22nd February 2012

The walk this Wednesday will meet at 10:45am at the Gamecock Inn, Whalley Road, Great Harwood. BB6 7UH. Map Ref SD745338 click for link to map. Sat Nav coordinates (N53:48:03 W2:23:19).

Directions:-
From M65 J7 head towards Whalley/Blackburn then turn right at the lights onto the A678, in 1/2 mile turn left at the lights into A680 Whalley Road. The Gamecock Inn is about 2 miles on the left.
From A59 near Whalley turn onto A671 Accrington Road for about a mile, through the lights at Spring Wood and then straight ahead at the next set of lights onto the A680. The Gamecock Inn is about 1 mile on the right.

The walk will be moderate 4/5 miles and start at 11:00am promptly and return for Lunch at about 1:45pm.

Lunch will be at the Gamecock Inn. Carvery ordered upon return.

The walk this Wednesday will meet at 10:45am at the Hare & Hounds, 400 Bolton Road West, Holcombe Brook, BL0 9RY. Map Ref SD779153 click for link to map. Sat Nav coordinates (N53:38:02 W2:20:04).

Directions:-
From M65 J5 take A6177 towards Haslingden. Turn right at Holden Wood Antiques - signed Helmshore Textile museum. Follow this road over the moor, through Holcombe Village and down the hill. Hare & Hounds is on the right at the bottom of the hill.
From Bolton take A676  through Bradshaw past Jumbles reservoir, through Hawkshaw. The Hare & Hounds is on left at Holcombe Brook just as you come into Ramsbottom.
 
The walk will start at 11:00am promptly will be 4-5 miles and return for Lunch at 1:30pm.

Lunch will be at the Hare & Hounds. Please order food prior to the walk.
