Walks for next Program

Please send in the following detail for walks for the next program

  1. The day the walk will take place and the starting time. Members are requested to assemble in time to get ready to start walking at the published time.
  2. A short description of your walk will be required to cover its grade, nature of terrain and scenery, names of highpoints or destinations, any restrictions (no dogs etc), ascent to be made if considered necessary, the mileage and whether there will be a pub stop. Your name and contact numbers. In some places mobile reception may be poor or impossible.
  3. Directions to the meeting/starting point with road numbers and  where possible and an indication of any parking costs and any other information NT.
  4. The (NGR) national grid reference. Including prefix letters followed by the easting and then northings. Details are given on all OS maps.
  5. The OS Explorer or other map to be used on the walk.
  6. When planning your walk it is vital to accurately assess the grade of the walk, its length and if necessary the height ascended. New members of Northern Link may not appreciate the nature of our walks.
  7. Most walks, both full day and part day usually finish at about 4 to 5pm. Any departure from this norm must be specified in the description.
  8. Details must be submitted no later than January 15th for the Spring programme, May 15th for the Summer programme and September 15th for the Winter programme.

Meet at the Mardale Head car park at the southwest end of Haweswater. 
From M6 J39 take the A6 north through Shap and turn left for Bampton. At Bampton turn left over the bridge and follow the road to Haweswater, passing down the length of the reservoir past the Haweswater Hotel.
